Cook / Chef

£12.00 - £14.50 per hour, Monday to Sunday, Between the hours of 7.00am – 4.00pm. Hours will be 34hr/week and be able to work on a rota that covers 7 days of the week. The days will usually be 4 days per week

Catermatch Solutions are currently recruiting a cook or chef for a local family care / residential home

Your role will involve working in the kitchen helping with basic food preparation, cooking and baking, food presentation and keeping the areas of the kitchen clean & tidy.

You will be working as part of an established team.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Devise, order and cook well balanced nutritious meals for up to 80 residents in a large nursing home. This involves 3 hot meals with 2 choices at each meal per day

Order provisions/ingredients for the weekly menus

Ensure that all meals are visually appetising and taste good

Supporting residents to ensure meals meet the requirements for those residents with special diets and/or require different food consistencies.

Manage a small team that includes a cook and several kitchen porters ensuring all shifts are covered across the 7days of the week and cover 365 days per year

Communication

  • Liaise Home Manager
  • Act courteously toward staff members, residents and their visitors
  • Participate in Staff meetings as and when required

Health & Safety

  • Report immediately to the Home Manager, or Person in Charge, any accident or near miss incurred by a service user, colleague, self or another
  • Adhere to the care centre’s waste disposal policy
  • Report immediately to the Home Manager, or Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious nature
  • Understand, and ensure the implementation of, the Care Centre’s Health and Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire procedures.
  • Report to the Home Manager, any faulty appliances, damaged equipment or any potential hazard
  • Promote safe working practice within the Care Centre
  • Ensure the security of the Care Centre is always maintained
  • Staff are responsible for ensuring that they understand the Infection Prevention and Control Policy. They should be fully aware of how and when to use PPE as per company policies and procedures in line with local and national guidelines

Other Duties

  • Other such reasonable duties within the general scope of the job title at the Home Managers discretion

Must have a HACCP qualification, NVQ Level 2 Catering.
